Mozambique Inflation Rate Rises to 3.2% in February

Mozambique’s annual inflation rate edged up to 3.20% in February 2026, from a more than one-year low of 3.04% in January, partly reflecting the effects of severe cyclones that have hit the country since the start of the year. The main upward contributions came from prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.83% vs 5.72% previously), clothing and footwear (4.80% vs 3.81%), miscellaneous goods and services (4.27% vs 4.01%), housing and utilities (2.71% vs 1.68%), and furnishings and household equipment (1.77% vs 1.32%). By contrast, transportation costs continued to decline, though at a slightly slower pace (-1.52% vs -1.72%). On a monthly basis, the consumer price index increased by 0.68% in February, following a 1.26% rise in the previous month.
