FX.co ★ South Africa Gold Production Eases in January

Gold production in South Africa rose by 0.7% year-on-year in January 2026, a notable slowdown from the upwardly revised 2% increase recorded in December 2025. This was the second consecutive month of expansion in gold output, though at a more moderate pace, and it added 0.1 percentage point to overall mining production growth. On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, gold production increased by 0.6% in January, down from a strong 7.4% rise in the previous month.
