Hungary’s Consumer Sentiment Edges Higher in March, PCSI Rises to 41.60

Hungarian consumer confidence improved modestly in March 2026, according to the latest Thomson Reuters IPSOS Primary Consumer Sentiment Index (PCSI). The index inched up to 41.60, from 40.53 in February 2026, signaling a month-over-month strengthening in household sentiment.

The data, updated as of 12 March 2026, show a continuation of gradual improvement, with the March reading compared against February’s level on a month-over-month basis. The February figure of 40.53 itself reflected the previous month’s sentiment relative to January, providing a rolling view of shifts in consumer perceptions.

While the index remains below the neutral 50-point threshold that typically separates pessimism from optimism, the uptick in March suggests that Hungarian consumers are becoming slightly more confident about economic conditions than they were at the start of the year.
