US Services Activity Growth Falls to 11-Month Low

The S&P Global US Services PMI slipped to 51.1 in March 2026 from 51.7 in February, coming in below the median market forecast of 51.1 and signaling the slowest pace of expansion in the sector in eleven months, according to a preliminary estimate. New business rose at a more moderate rate, with both domestic and overseas orders losing momentum. Firms pointed to subdued confidence among consumers and corporate clients, as the war in the Middle East amplified existing policy concerns about higher deficit spending. Thinner customer margins prompted companies to cut staff. The conflict and its impact on order flows also led firms to report their weakest business outlook since last October.
