South Africa February PPI Inflation at 7-Month Low

South Africa’s producer price inflation slowed for the second consecutive month in February 2026, easing to 1.8% from 2.2% in January and reaching its lowest level since July. Costs declined further in coal and petroleum products (-8.9% vs -4.1% in January), driven mainly by lower fuel prices, including petrol (-12.8% vs -5.3%) and diesel (-12.4% vs -4.8%).

Meanwhile, price growth moderated slightly in several categories: food products, beverages and tobacco products (2.3% vs 2.4%); paper and printed products (4.9% vs 5.0%); and furniture and other manufacturing (12.1% vs 12.2%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices were unchanged, following a 0.2% decline in the previous month.
