The Baltic Exchange dry bulk freight index rose 1.6% to 2,523 on Thursday, its highest level since December 9, 2025, and extended its rally to a tenth consecutive session. The capesize index, which tracks vessels carrying about 150,000 tons of cargo such as iron ore and coal, gained 1.6% to 4,026, the highest reading in more than four months. The panamax index, reflecting rates for ships that typically transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, advanced 1.1% to 1,970, its strongest level since early March.
