Greek Inflation Eases Slightly in May, CPI Slips to 5.2% YoY

Greece’s consumer price inflation edged down in May 2026, with the annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 5.2% year-on-year, compared with 5.4% in April 2026. The latest data, updated on 10 June 2026, indicate a modest easing in price pressures, though inflation remains elevated on a yearly basis.

Both the current and previous readings are measured on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s price levels with the same month a year earlier. The April figure of 5.4% reflected the increase in prices relative to April of the prior year, while May’s 5.2% captures the annual change against May a year earlier. The slight slowdown suggests that, while inflationary pressures persist in Greece, they may be gradually losing momentum as 2026 progresses.
