Czechia Producer Prices Rise for Second Month

Producer prices in the Czech Republic rose by 1.5% year-on-year in May 2026, up from a 1% increase in April but below market expectations of a 2.3% gain. This was the second consecutive month of annual growth after fourteen months of contraction.

The increase was driven mainly by higher prices for manufactured products (3.6% vs 3.1% in April), with basic metals in particular accelerating (3% vs 2.6%). Costs in mining and quarrying also rose at a faster pace (2.3% vs 1.7%), while prices for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services were unchanged at 3.9%.

At the same time, deflation in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply eased slightly (-6% vs -6.4%). On a monthly basis, producer prices slipped 0.1%, reversing a 1.4% increase in April and falling short of market expectations for a 0.6% rise.
