The number of tourist arrivals in Montenegro increased by 0.3% year-on-year to 169,877 in May 2026, rebounding from an 8.4% decline in the previous month. Foreign visitors remained the dominant segment, accounting for 87.4% of total arrivals (148,388), while domestic tourists represented 12.6% (21,489).
Among foreign visitors, Europe continued to be the leading source region, generating 78.8% of total arrivals, with Serbia, Germany, and France as the main individual markets. Outside Europe, the highest numbers of visitors came from Israel, the United States, and China (including Hong Kong).
By type of destination, seaside resorts remained the most popular, attracting 79.5% of arrivals, followed by the capital region with 12.4% and mountain resorts with 4.8%. Overnight stays in collective accommodation reached 506,256, with foreign tourists accounting for 86.3% of these stays and domestic tourists for the remaining 13.7%.
