The Netherlands’ current account surplus expanded to €26.28 billion in the first quarter of 2026, up from a downwardly revised €23.28 billion in the same quarter a year earlier. The goods surplus increased slightly to €22.40 billion from €22.00 billion, while the services surplus rose to €9.17 billion from €8.36 billion. Meanwhile, the primary income deficit narrowed sharply by €1.84 billion to €0.39 billion, compared with €2.23 billion a year earlier. By contrast, the secondary income deficit widened modestly to €4.91 billion from €4.82 billion.
