The annual inflation rate in Mauritius eased to 3.7% in June 2026, down from a five-month high of 4.3% in May. The slowdown was largely driven by weaker price growth for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.8% versus 9.3% in May), recreation and culture (2.3% versus 2.7%), and furnishings and household equipment (3.5% versus 3.9%). At the same time, prices continued to decline for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.3% versus -2%) and for information and communication (-1.5% versus -1.7%). On a monthly basis, the consumer price index rose 0.3% in June, easing from a 0.8% increase in the previous month.
