FX.co ★ US Futures Steady as Investors Await Earnings

US stock futures were little changed on Tuesday after the major averages opened the week on a weak note, as investors awaited another wave of corporate earnings. Companies set to report results on Tuesday include Charles Schwab, Chubb, Danaher, General Motors, and 3M. Traders are also looking ahead to reports later in the week from leading technology names such as Alphabet, Tesla, and Intel.

In Monday’s regular session, the Dow fell 0.59%, the S&P 500 slipped 0.19%, and the Nasdaq Composite inched down 0.05%. Eight of the 11 S&P 500 sectors finished lower, with healthcare, materials, and industrials posting the steepest declines.

Equities came under pressure as Treasury yields climbed, driven by a surge in oil prices that rekindled concerns about inflation and additional Federal Reserve rate hikes this year. Futures markets now imply roughly a 55% probability of a Fed rate increase in September, up from about 51% the previous day.
