US Stocks Extend Rebound

US stocks advanced on Tuesday, led by gains in the technology sector ahead of key earnings releases. The S&P 500 and the Dow each climbed about 0.8%, rebounding after several subdued sessions, while the Nasdaq 100 rose 1.5%.

Semiconductor stocks were standouts: Micron and SanDisk both surged more than 12%, and Applied Materials and Marvell added over 8%. Chipmakers extended their recovery from last week’s sell-off, supported by strong export data from Taiwan and South Korea that reinforced momentum across the semiconductor industry. The sector rallied ahead of Alphabet’s earnings release tomorrow, which investors view as a fresh gauge of AI infrastructure demand from hyperscale cloud providers.

Elsewhere in the market, recent selling pressure eased across most sectors, even as tensions between Iran and the US intensified and kept upward pressure on energy prices. Treasury yields stayed elevated, prompting some profit-taking in financials after last week’s earnings-driven rally. General Motors gained 5% following its results, while Charles Schwab fell 3% after missing earnings estimates.
