Macau Inflation Rate Eases in June

Macau’s annual inflation rate eased to 1.24% in June 2026, down from a more than two-year high of 1.43% in May. The deceleration was largely attributed to weaker price increases in transport (3.71% vs 4.79%), miscellaneous goods and services (2.36% vs 3.56%), housing and fuels (0.39% vs 0.59%), and health (0.87% vs 0.89%).

At the same time, inflation picked up for several categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.31% vs 1.19%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.09% vs -0.46%), clothing and footwear (3.17% vs 2.91%), household furnishings and services (0.81% vs 0.76%), information and communication (1.17% vs 1.06%), and recreation, sport and culture (1.45% vs 1.24%). Education inflation was unchanged at 1.05%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices declined by 0.15% in June, reversing a 0.17% increase in May and marking the second monthly contraction of 2026, following the drop recorded in March.
