Sensex Rises on Tech Strength

India’s BSE Sensex climbed around 1.0% to 77,538 on Wednesday, rebounding from the previous session’s losses as technology stocks led the advance ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision. The benchmark index was driven higher by gains in tech names, with NewGen (5.3%), KPIT Tech (4.3%), Coforge (4.2%), Infosys (3.9%), and TCS (2.8%) among the key outperformers.

Strong moves were also seen across other sectors, with SHK up 14%, Paradeep gaining 12%, and Firstsource Solutions rising 6.6%. Market sentiment was further buoyed by renewed foreign inflows, as foreign institutional investors (FIIs) turned net buyers to the tune of roughly INR 7.55 billion in the previous session.

Investors continued to track corporate earnings, with Larsen & Toubro in focus after the company reaffirmed its full-year revenue and margin guidance on the back of a solid quarterly performance. However, upside in the index was limited by higher crude oil prices, as escalating geopolitical tensions pushed Brent crude higher, posing a potential headwind for India, a major oil importer.
