Hong Kong Stocks Snap Six-Day Winning Streak

The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.5%, or 123 points, to 25,885 on Tuesday, halting a six-session winning streak as investors took profits and sentiment softened over the course of the day. Early optimism about Beijing’s latest initiatives to bolster Hong Kong’s status as an international financial hub—such as expanding yuan-denominated investment products and enhancing cross-border market access—waned as selling pressure built in heavyweight technology and financial names.

The benchmark’s pullback also underscored persistent caution surrounding China’s economic outlook and corporate earnings, prompting investors to lock in gains following the recent rally. Additionally, market participants stayed on the sidelines ahead of China’s trade data due later this week.

Prominent decliners included Tencent (-0.7%), Xiaomi (-1.3%), GoFintech Quantum Innovation (-7.7%), Geely Automobile (-3.1%), and AIA (-0.5%).
