FX.co ★ Slovakia Retail Sales at 3-Month High

Retail sales in Slovakia increased by 2.0% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from a 0.9% rise in May and reaching the strongest growth in three months. The upturn was driven in particular by a sharp expansion in sales of ICT equipment (25.3% vs 12.9% in May), while sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores returned to positive territory (0.3% vs -1.1%).

At the same time, several segments continued to contract, but at a slower pace than in the previous month. This was the case for hypermarkets and supermarkets (-0.4% vs -3.0%), food, beverages, and tobacco (-2.2% vs -7.2%), sales via stalls and markets (-9.8% vs -18.4%), and trade outside shops, stalls, and markets (-6.8% vs -12.9%).

By contrast, growth eased in a number of other categories, including cultural and recreation goods in specialized stores (8.3% vs 23.3%), other household equipment in specialized stores (7.5% vs 11.7%), and other goods in specialized stores (4.6% vs 6.2%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade expanded by 0.4% in June, after a 0.1% increase in the previous month.
