Hungary’s Core Inflation Eases to 1.9% in July, Extending Year‑Over‑Year Cooling Trend

Hungary’s core Consumer Price Index (CPI) continued to moderate in July 2026, with the year-over-year rate edging down to 1.9%, according to data updated on 7 August 2026. This marks a slight decline from June 2026, when core CPI stood at 2.0% on an annual basis.

The figures are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month to the same month a year earlier. The July reading therefore reflects a further easing in underlying inflation pressures, following June’s already subdued pace. While the change is modest, the move from 2.0% to 1.9% in core CPI underscores a gradual cooling in price dynamics within the Hungarian economy over the summer period of 2026.
