FX.co ★ Brazil Retail Sales Rise in June

Brazil’s retail sales rose 0.5% month-on-month in June 2026, accelerating from a 0.3% increase in May and surpassing market expectations of a 0.3% gain. Growth was recorded in four sectors: other personal and household goods (2.4%), hypermarkets and supermarkets (1.1%), furniture and household appliances (0.4%), and pharmaceutical and perfumery products (0.2%).

Meanwhile, four segments registered declines: books, newspapers and stationery (-9.9%), textiles, clothing and footwear (-2.6%), fuels and lubricants (-1.7%), and office, IT and communication equipment (-1.3%).

Sales increased in 19 of Brazil’s 27 states, with the strongest performances in Amazonas (3.0%), Espírito Santo (2.6%) and Roraima (2.5%). In contrast, expanded retail sales fell 1.0% on the month, deepening from a 0.3% drop in May.
