FX.co ★ Canada Manufacturing Sales Edge Higher in June

Canada’s manufacturing sales edged up 0.1% month-on-month to C$78.8 billion in June 2026, following a 1.3% increase in May and outperforming expectations for a 0.1% decline. Gains were recorded in 15 of the 21 surveyed subsectors.

Chemical sales rose 6.0%, marking a fourth consecutive monthly increase and reaching their highest level since October 2022. The advance was largely driven by stronger sales of pharmaceutical products, as well as resin, synthetic rubber, and artificial and synthetic fibres and filaments.

Sales in the transportation equipment subsector climbed 2.8%, extending their growth streak to five consecutive months. The increase was led by motor vehicle parts, up 6.2%, and aerospace products and parts, up 6.0%.

By contrast, sales of petroleum and coal products declined 14.1% after three straight monthly gains, weighed down by lower prices for petroleum and energy products.
