Bulgaria’s annual inflation rate slowed to 4.5% in July 2026, down from 5.4% in June, coming in slightly above the preliminary estimate of 4.4% and marking a four-month low. The deceleration was mainly driven by weaker price growth in transport (14.5% vs. 16.8%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.2% vs. 2.4%), and recreation, sport and culture (7.5% vs. 10.8%). Price increases also eased for restaurants and accommodation services (9.3% vs. 9.6%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.7% vs. 6.7%), health (4.0% vs. 4.3%), and insurance and financial services (1.1% vs. 2.7%). In contrast, inflation edged up slightly for housing and utilities (5.1% vs. 5.0%), while the decline in clothing and footwear prices became less pronounced (-0.4% vs. -1.0%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.8% in July, rebounding from a 0.9% drop in June and surpassing the preliminary estimate of a 0.7% increase.
