US 10-Year Yield Eases Ahead of FOMC Minutes

The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note eased toward 4.7% on Wednesday, pulling back from recent highs as investors awaited the minutes of the Federal Reserve’s July meeting for clearer signals on the future path of monetary policy. The Fed kept interest rates unchanged at that meeting, but three officials dissented in favor of a hike—a division that traders are closely watching for additional nuance on the central bank’s stance.

Earlier this week, Treasury yields climbed sharply, with the 30-year US Treasury yield hitting a 19-year high. The move was driven by a combination of increased debt issuance and persistent inflation concerns, which triggered a selloff in longer-dated government bonds. At the same time, US corporate bond issuance has remained a key theme, with estimates indicating that AI-related companies alone could issue up to $1.5 trillion in debt this year.

This wave of new dollar-denominated fixed-income supply has intensified worries about widening fiscal deficits in the US and across other G10 economies. In response, investors have been demanding higher term premiums, pushing yields higher across global bond markets.
