Mexico’s GDP grew by 1.4% in the second quarter of 2026, revised slightly down from the preliminary estimate of 1.5%, yet remaining above the market’s initial forecast of 1.3%. The data confirm a rebound from the 0.6% contraction recorded in the first quarter, underscoring the Mexican economy’s resilience in the face of ongoing trade frictions with the United States and sharply higher energy prices stemming from the war between the US and Iran. Output rose in primary activities (2.4%), supported by higher prices for oil and gas extracted in Mexico and the Gulf region. Secondary activities increased by 1.6%, while services expanded by 1.4%. On an annual basis, Mexico’s GDP grew by 2.1%.
