Poland Inflation Rate Accelerates to 3.4%

Poland’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.4% in August 2026 from 3.0% in July, exceeding market expectations of 3.1%, according to preliminary estimates. This was the highest reading since June 2025 and brought inflation close to the upper bound of the National Bank of Poland’s 2.5% target range, which allows for fluctuations between 1.5% and 3.5%. By category, prices for fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment jumped 24.2%, while electricity, gas and other fuels increased by 4.1%. In contrast, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages fell by 0.9%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4%, easing from a 0.8% increase in the previous month.
