Australia’s ANZ–Indeed Job Ads rose 2.5% month-on-month in August 2026, accelerating from July’s upwardly revised 1.9% increase and marking a second consecutive month of expansion. This was also the fastest pace since February, underscoring resilient labour demand despite higher borrowing costs. Seasonal hiring ahead of Christmas boosted recruitment in retail and food services, while tech-related postings eased slightly, reflecting softer demand in software, data, and analytics roles. ANZ Senior Economist Jasmine Zheng warned that this momentum may not be sustained as elevated interest rates weigh on activity, and she expects job ads to gradually trend lower, with unemployment rising only modestly given the indicator’s underlying strength. On an annual basis, job ads were up 7.8% and remained 21.4% above their decade average, highlighting continued labour market robustness even as cyclical headwinds intensify.
