Thailand Inflation Rate at 3-Month High

Thailand’s annual inflation rate rose for the first time in four months, reaching 2.53% in August 2026, up from 1.95% in July. The figure exceeded market expectations of 2.2% and represented the fastest pace of increase since May. Even so, inflation remained within the Bank of Thailand’s target range of 1% to 3%.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile energy and fresh food prices, also picked up, climbing to 1.44% in August from 1.34% in July. This was the highest level since May 2023 and surpassed the consensus forecast of 1.33%.

On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose 0.56% in August, rebounding from a 0.73% decline in July and registering the strongest monthly increase in four months.
