Belarus Inflation Rate Edges Up

The annual inflation rate in Belarus inched up to 4.5% in August 2026 from 4.4% in July. Services inflation accelerated to 5.7% from 5.4%, driven mainly by faster price growth in housing and utilities, where inflation rose to 10.4% from 10.3%, and in transport, where the rate increased to 6.1% from 5.3%.

Additional upward pressure came from higher inflation in furnishings (3.6% vs. 2.8%), information and communication (2.5% vs. 1.8%), and restaurants and accommodation (7.8% vs. 6.8%).

At the same time, inflation for overall food products was unchanged at 3.1%. Within this category, however, price growth for food and non-alcoholic beverages eased slightly to 2.2% from 2.3%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.08% in August, following a 0.3% increase in July.
