Germany Current Account Surplus Widens in July

Germany’s current account surplus widened to €21.2 billion in July 2026, up from €10.9 billion in July 2025. The goods surplus increased to €21.0 billion from €16.4 billion a year earlier, while the services deficit narrowed to €8.3 billion from €9.7 billion. By contrast, the secondary income deficit widened to €6.7 billion from €5.5 billion, and the primary income surplus edged down to €15.0 billion from €15.7 billion.

Over the first seven months of 2026, the current account surplus rose to €129 billion, compared with €123 billion in the same period of 2025.
