Upside momentum was restrained, however, with Brent crude trading near $107 a barrel amid persistent Middle East tensions and supply disruptions.
HDFC Bank drew attention after it began the process of selecting a successor to CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan, submitting two candidates to the Reserve Bank of India for approval. Coforge was also in focus as nomination committee chair D.K. Singh resigned, a move that followed an audit and underscored ongoing internal frictions at the firm.
In the infrastructure space, KEC International announced fresh orders worth roughly 13.03 billion rupees, offering a supportive catalyst for the engineering and construction company.
On the macroeconomic front, India’s annual inflation accelerated to 4.82% in August from 4.45% in July, heightening concerns about the inflation trajectory and potentially limiting the Reserve Bank of India’s room for further monetary easing.
Among notable gainers were Infosys (+4.5%), TCS (+4.6%), Zensar Tech (+6.9%), and HDFC Bank (+2.3%).
