Net foreign acquisitions of long-term securities, short-term U.S. securities, and banking flows produced a net TIC inflow of $83.7 billion in July 2026. Net foreign private inflows were $73.5 billion, while net foreign official inflows totaled $10.2 billion. Foreign residents increased their holdings of long-term U.S. securities, with net purchases of $40.6 billion overall. This figure reflects net sales of $3.7 billion by private foreign investors and net purchases of $44.4 billion by foreign official institutions. U.S. residents also expanded their holdings of long-term foreign securities, recording net purchases of $68.5 billion. After adjustments, total net foreign sales of long-term securities were estimated at $27.9 billion. In addition, foreign residents raised their holdings of U.S. Treasury bills by $38.8 billion, and their holdings of all dollar-denominated short-term U.S. securities and other custody liabilities increased by $65 billion.
