FX.co ★ Sweden Business Mood Continues to Improve

Sweden’s business confidence indicator climbed for the sixth consecutive month, reaching 109.3 in September 2026, up from 107.5 in August. This is the highest level since May 2022 and places the indicator further above its historical average of 100, signaling a continued improvement in overall business sentiment. Demand conditions, however, were unchanged at -18, remaining close to their long-term norm.

Companies reported a modest rise in employment over the past three months (2 compared with -2 in August). Hiring plans also firmed, with the employment outlook for the next three months ticking up to 7 from 6, suggesting further growth in headcount. These plans were stronger than usual in manufacturing and construction, but weaker than normal in the trade sector.

At the same time, firms’ expectations for sales prices inched up to 22 from 21, indicating that price increases remain more widespread than is typical across all sectors.
