FX.co ★ Estonia Retail Sales Rise to 5-Month High

Retail sales in Estonia rose by 6.1% year-on-year in August 2026, up from a 4.1% increase in July and marking the fastest growth since March. The acceleration was mainly driven by stronger demand for non-food products excluding fuel, with sales in this category climbing 8.0% after a 3.0% gain in the previous month. By contrast, growth in sales of automotive fuel in specialised stores eased to 4.5% from 6.6% in July, while sales of food, beverages and tobacco also slowed, rising 2.5% compared with 3.0% a month earlier.

On a monthly basis, total retail trade volume fell by 1.4% in August, reversing a 2.8% increase in July. However, after seasonal and calendar adjustment, retail sales were up 1%. Over the first eight months of 2026, the volume of retail sales was 4% higher than in the same period in 2025.
