Indonesia’s Import Growth Cools in August, Easing to 19.09% YoY

Indonesia’s import growth slowed in August 2026, with the year-over-year rate easing to 19.09%, down from 27.02% in July 2026. The latest figures, updated on 01 October 2026, indicate a moderation in external demand or import-intensive activity after a strong surge earlier in the summer.

Both July and August readings are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s imports with the same month a year earlier. While July’s 27.02% jump highlighted robust momentum in inbound shipments, August’s 19.09% pace still signals solid growth, albeit at a less heated rate. The shift suggests that while Indonesia remains on an expansionary path in terms of imports, the peak growth seen in July may be normalizing as the third quarter progresses.
