India’s BSE Sensex closed about 0.7% higher at 72,382.5 on Monday, snapping a four-day losing streak, supported by easing oil prices and diminishing expectations of a Fed rate hike at its October meeting. This came even as foreign fund outflows persisted and investors turned cautious ahead of the RBI’s policy decision later this week. Buying interest was notably strong in FMCG, energy, financials, and banking stocks. ITC led the gains, rising 4.5% after Citigroup upgraded the stock twice over, to “buy” from “sell.” Bajaj Finance added 2.3% after reporting an 11% year-on-year increase in new loans in the September quarter.
