The annual inflation rate in the Czech Republic increased to 2.5% in September 2026 from 1.9% in August, slightly above the forecast of 2.4%, according to preliminary estimates. This was the highest rate since April, driven by faster price growth in energy (5.9% vs 2.3% in August) and goods (1.2% vs 0.2%), with a marginal uptick in services inflation as well (4.6% vs 4.5%). At the same time, deflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages moderated (-3.5% vs -4.3%). By contrast, inflation for alcoholic beverages and tobacco eased slightly (4.6% vs 4.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat in September, following a 0.3% increase in August, the weakest monthly reading since June.
