Indonesian Equities Fall After Recent Gains

Indonesia’s IDX Composite fell 30 points, or 0.5%, to 6,165 in Wednesday morning trade, ending a three-session winning streak as infrastructure, property, and transport stocks declined. Risk appetite softened after U.S. stock futures turned lower, pulling back from fresh record highs on Wall Street overnight, ahead of the release of the Fed’s latest meeting minutes and speeches from policymakers.

Domestically, sentiment was cautious ahead of today’s September foreign-exchange data, with consumer confidence figures and August retail sales due later this week. At the same time, the World Bank warned that Indonesia is lagging Malaysia and Vietnam in attracting global AI-related investment, although it highlighted continued resilience in household consumption and government spending.

Regionally, investors were also looking to China, Indonesia’s key trading partner, where markets are set to reopen on Thursday following the Golden Week holiday. Among notable laggards were Solusi Sinergi Digital (-2.8%), United Tractors (-2.5%), Surya Citra Media (-1.7%), and Bumi Resources (-1.1%).
