Indonesia’s Consumer Confidence Edges Down in September, Remains Firmly Optimistic

Indonesia’s consumer confidence slipped slightly in September 2026 but remained firmly in optimistic territory, signaling continued resilience in household sentiment. The consumer confidence index eased to 118.1 in September from 118.5 in July 2026, according to the latest data updated on 8 October 2026.

Although the indicator edged down, readings above 100 still reflect prevailing optimism among consumers. The marginal decline suggests that while households may be growing more cautious about the economic outlook, overall confidence in income prospects, employment, and spending capacity remains relatively solid.

The stability of the index around the 118 level indicates that domestic demand could stay supportive for Indonesia’s growth trajectory, even as consumers monitor potential risks at home and abroad more closely.
