Egypt’s Inflation Eases in September as Annual CPI Slips to 13.9%

Egypt’s consumer price growth slowed in September 2026, with the year-over-year Consumer Price Index (CPI) easing to 13.90%, down from 14.50% in August 2026. The latest data, updated on 10 October 2026, indicate a modest cooling in inflationary pressures across the economy.

Both the current and previous readings are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s price levels with those of the same month a year earlier. The September figure therefore reflects how prices in September 2026 have changed relative to September 2025, while the August figure captured the change from August 2025 to August 2026.

The deceleration from August to September suggests a gradual improvement in price dynamics, which will be closely watched by investors and policymakers as they assess the trajectory of inflation and its implications for monetary policy, consumer purchasing power, and overall economic stability in Egypt.
