The United States Producer Price Index excluding food, energy and transport rose 5.0% year-over-year in September 2026, according to data updated on 15 October 2026. This marks an acceleration from the previously reported 4.7% annual increase in August 2026.

Measured on a year-over-year basis, the September figure reflects how core producer prices have changed compared with September a year earlier, while the August reading captured the annual change relative to August of the previous year. The pickup from 4.7% to 5.0% suggests underlying producer-level price pressures—stripped of more volatile components—continued to firm as the third quarter drew to a close.
