FX.co ★ US Natural Gas Stocks Rise Less Than Expected

US natural gas inventories rose by 67 billion cubic feet in the week ending October 9, undershooting market expectations for a 76 bcf build and slowing from the prior week’s 85 bcf injection. The latest increase was also smaller than the 80 bcf added in the same week last year and below the five-year seasonal average of 90 bcf. Even with the weaker-than-expected build, total storage climbed to 3.567 trillion cubic feet. Stockpiles stood 3.9% below year-ago levels but remained 1.3% above the 2021–2025 seasonal average for this time of year.
