Australia’s Producer Inflation Cools Slightly in Q3 2026

Australia’s Producer Price Index (PPI) growth eased in the third quarter of 2026, signaling a modest cooling in upstream price pressures. Quarter-over-quarter, the PPI increased by 1.1% in Q3, down from a 1.3% rise recorded in the second quarter of 2026.

The data, updated on 30 October 2026, show that while producer prices are still rising, the pace of increase has slowed compared with the previous quarter. On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the “Actual” 1.1% change for the current quarter is measured against the “Previous” 1.3% change seen in Q2 2026, which itself was a comparison with the first quarter of the year.

This moderation in producer inflation may be watched closely by markets and policymakers as a potential sign of easing cost pressures within the production pipeline, which can influence future consumer prices and monetary policy expectations.
