US stock futures were mixed on Thursday as technology shares came under renewed pressure on concerns that a Democratic sweep in the US midterm elections could usher in tighter regulation of data centers, prompting investors to rotate into other sectors. Dow futures rose about 0.5%, while futures tied to the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 fell roughly 0.8%.
Market participants also digested the latest batch of corporate earnings. AppLovin surged 20% in after-hours trading after reporting quarterly results that beat expectations and issuing upbeat guidance.
In Wednesday’s regular session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 3.03%, adding 1,569 points to close at a two-month high. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.58% and 1.44%, respectively. Consumer discretionary, financial and real estate stocks led the gains, while energy and industrial shares lagged.
Investors now look ahead to Thursday’s earnings releases from companies including ConocoPhillips, Kimberly-Clark and Airbnb.
