According to recent survey results from GfK, a market research company, consumer confidence in Germany is projected to see a modest increase in March.
In February, the predictive consumer sentiment index escalated from -29.6 to -29.0 in March, aligning with economists' predictions. However, the economic expectations indicator experienced only a slight increase in February as consumers were unable to spot any indication of a lasting rebound in the nation's economy. Consequently, the related index slightly rose by 0.2 points to -6.4.
The optimism concerning income expectations made considerable progress in February, with the index rising by 15.2 points to -4.8. This is the highest value recorded since February 2022.
Despite the positive growth in income expectations, the propensity to buy index saw only a negligible increase from -14.8 to -15.0, suggesting that higher income expectations have yet to translate into a significant increase in consumers' willingness to make purchases.
