Williams-Sonoma Slashes FY24 Revenue Outlook As Q2 Revenues Miss Estimates

Williams-Sonoma Inc. (WSM), a premier retailer of luxury home furnishings, announced on Thursday a significant increase in net earnings for the second quarter, reaching $225.75 million or $1.74 per share. This marks an improvement from $201.51 million or $1.56 per share in the corresponding period last year.

Market expectations, as surveyed by Thomson Reuters, had anticipated earnings of $1.60 per share for the quarter, excluding any non-recurring items.

Despite the earnings growth, net revenues for the quarter fell to $1.79 billion, down from $1.86 billion in the same quarter of the previous year, missing the analysts' consensus estimate of $1.81 billion.

Comparable brand revenue experienced a decline of 3.3 percent.

Looking ahead to fiscal 2024, Williams-Sonoma now forecasts a net revenue decline ranging from 4 to 1.5 percent, with comparable brand revenue expected to decrease by 5.5 to 3.0 percent. This is a revision from earlier projections, which ranged from a 3 percent decline to a 3 percent growth in net revenue and a 4.5 percent decline to a 1.5 percent growth in comparable brand revenue. The consensus estimate by analysts is for flat revenues at $7.75 billion for the quarter.
