Philippines Jobless Rate Rises to 3.8% in February

In February 2025, the unemployment rate in the Philippines increased to 3.8%, up from 3.5% in the same period the previous year. The total number of unemployed individuals rose to 1.94 million compared to 1.80 million in February 2024. Concurrently, the number of employed people grew to 49.15 million from 48.95 million. Within the major industry sectors, the services sector maintained its position as the largest employer, encompassing 61.6% of the total employed workforce, followed by agriculture at 20.1% and industry at 18.3%. Simultaneously, the labor force participation rate slightly declined to 64.5% from 64.8% the year before. On average, employed individuals worked 41.1 hours per week, a slight increase from the 40.1 hours reported in February 2024.
