In February 2025, retail sales in Mexico experienced a year-on-year decline of 1.1%, overturning the previous month's 2.7% growth in January. This decrease followed a short-lived recovery, which concluded an eight-month period of continuous decline. Specifically, sales dipped in several sectors including vehicle services (-3.3%), textiles, costume jewelry, clothing accessories, and footwear (-0.7%), healthcare products (-2.9%), stationery (-0.2%), vehicle items (-1.8%), as well as hardware, plumbing, and glass products (-2.5%). However, sales through online platforms, printed catalogs, television, and similar outlets registered a significant growth, surging by 13.2%. On a month-to-month, seasonally adjusted scale, retail sales rose slightly by 0.2% in February, building on an upwardly revised 0.7% increase in January.
