Brazil's Consumer Price Index Rises as Expected in Mid-April

In the first half of April 2025, Brazil's consumer price index experienced a 0.43% month-over-month increase, marking a decrease from the 0.64% rise observed during the same period in March. This change aligns with market expectations. Notably, transportation was the only sector to see a reduction, falling by 0.44%, while food and beverages, along with health and personal care, showed the most significant increases at 1.14% and 0.96%, respectively. These two categories combined accounted for 88% of the month's total inflation. On a year-over-year basis, inflation accelerated to 5.49%, reaching its highest level since February 2023, up from 5.26% in the previous period, largely matching projected estimates.
