Belgium posted a trade surplus of EUR 1,244.5 million in December 2025, slightly lower than the EUR 1,293.5 million recorded in the same month a year earlier. Imports rose by 0.6% year-on-year to EUR 38,912.6 million, driven by a 6.1% increase in purchases from EU countries, while imports from non-EU countries declined by 8.7%. Exports inched up 0.4% to EUR 38,912.6 million, supported by a 3.3% rise in shipments to EU markets, even as exports to non-EU destinations fell by 5.3%. Over the full year 2025, Belgium registered a trade surplus of EUR 26,649.9 million, compared with EUR 26,316.6 million in the previous year.
