Sweden Consumer Sentiment Rises to 4-Month High

Sweden’s household confidence indicator rose to 96.3 in February 2026 from a downwardly revised 95.0 in January, reaching its highest level since October 2025. The increase reflects improved assessments of both households’ current financial situation (3 vs. -2 in January) and the current state of the economy (-16 vs. -22) compared with a year earlier.

A larger-than-normal share of households reported that they are currently saving, and many expect to be able to save over the next twelve months. However, expectations for the year ahead weakened slightly, both for household finances (9 vs. 11) and for the overall economy (-10 vs. -7).

Household expectations regarding unemployment edged higher (11 vs. 10), and inflation expectations also ticked up (6.6 vs. 6.5). Attitudes toward major purchases remain subdued, with plans indicating a continued decline in spending on capital goods over the coming year.
