Mongolia Inflation Rate Slows to 18-Month Low

Mongolia’s annual inflation rate eased to 6.5% in February 2026, down from 7.5% recorded in both December and January, reaching its lowest level since August 2024. Price growth slowed for several major categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (12.3% vs 12.6% in January), clothing, footwear, and cloth (6.5% vs 6.6%), housing and utilities (2% vs 4.3%), health, medical care and services (6.2% vs 6.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (8.7% vs 8.9%).

Transport prices fell by 2.7%, reversing a 2.1% increase in January.

In contrast, inflation accelerated for furnishing and household equipment (6.3% vs 5.3%), restaurants and hotels (10.6% vs 8.5%), recreation and culture (6.5% vs 6.1%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.5% vs 7.4%). Prices were unchanged in education (12.8%), communication (1.5%), and insurance and financial services (3.9%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.5% in February, slowing from a 1.1% increase in the previous month.
